    Lunokhod-1 49th anniversary

    November 2019 saw the 49th anniversary of the Soviet automatic Luna-17 Moon station beginning its work on the Moon surface and Lunokhod-1, the first ever in human history remote-controlled self-propelled robot to land and work on another world. NII-885 and other enterprises’ employees (branches of Russian Space Systems, part of Roscosmos) took part in creating most important systems enabling this achievement of the Soviet science and technology.

    Science and Engineering Board on the results of the super-heavy class space rocket complex preliminary design

    The joint meeting of Roscosmos State Corporation Science and Engineering Board presidium and the Russian Academy of Sciences Council Bureau took place in Moscow. The meeting was held to discuss the results of the super-heavy class space rocket complex preliminary design.     First-ever reverse side of the Moon pictures received 60 years ago

    On October 7, 1959, the Soviet automatic interplanetary station Luna-3 transmitted the first-ever made reverse side of the Moon pictures. The NII-885 (today – Russian Space Systems, RSS, part of Roscosmos) within a very short time created the ground equipment to receive and transmit the signal and the first onboard FM-band receiver-transmitter for deep space communication.

    60 years on the Moon

    ROSCOSMOS

    60 years ago, on September 12, 1959, the Vostok-L carrier rocket was launched from the Baikonur Cosmodrome with the Luna-2 automatic interplanetary station onboard. In two days, it became the first station in the world to reach the Moon surface. The landing was registered by the Soviet and foreign observatories.

    GLONASS satellite group status

    GLONASS spacecraft are being withdrawn both for scheduled and unplanned repairs. The withdrawal is performed when changing the set of the onboard equipment, in case of prolonged staying inside the orbital eclipse period (the double orbital eclipse period of the Moon and the Earth).
